About 300 or so members have joined since I've last made a post, so I'll introduce myself: Hello, everyone, I'm rukia, the main moderator of soul_society. You can call me Airy. ^_^
If anyone is wondering why I haven't made a mod post in such a long time - don't worry, I haven't been a lazy mod, nor do I intend to be. No matter how busy, I always have time to check up on things here. The only reason I haven't posted is that there hasn't been an overwhelming need for a Mod post. You are all really nice people and I'm very happy to help run such a pleasant community. ♥
As it stands, I'm just here to wish a season's greetings and make some general reminders. Most importantly, if there is anything you as a member think could be done to improve this community, feel free to email me or leave a comment on my lj to let me know. I'm here whenever any of you need me... or at the very least I'll keep trying my best to as accessible as possible. ^^;
Being a paid account, tags can be used by this community. It's difficult for me to mark every post with the appropriate tags, but if the majority insists I do so, then I wouldn't argue against that. It would just be a new habit for me to get into, after all. Otherwise, it's up to you to choose which tags to use when you post on the community. You don't have use them, but it does make it easier for other members to find similar posts.
Tags also help define what are considered acceptable posts or not. If you are about to make a post that does not fit into any of the below categories, please email me before making the post to see if it is considered acceptable as an exception to the norm. I can be of help, so feel free to contact me.
In any case, the current tags are as follows and more than one tag can be used at a time:
anime - Posts concerning anime discussions, bit torrent links, screencaps, seiyuu info, news, etc.
community - I get this question regularly, but the answer is yes feel free to pimp your Bleach-related community here. ♥
info - Unlike the "news" tag, this would be considered a compilation of Bleach information, such as halcyonjazz's famous character name list and dosetsu's equally popular Zanpakutou name list.
manga - Post concerning manga discussions, raw links, translations, news, and so on.
media - For media sharing links of any kind, related info, and so on.
mod - Posts made by me, or fellow moderators, concerning the community.
news - News of any sort. Of course this tag can be coupled with other tags to specify what sort of news.
spoil - Anything that has spoilers. Wait, that's almost anything we discuss here... well, in any case, use this tag as you wish.
theories - For discussions about Bleach dealing with the story, characters, and so on. Remember that if you intend to put out a theory, try and give evidence for why you feel it could work so that other members can properly challenge it or help you think it through. Deep discussions about certain aspects about Bleach can be very enjoyable at times.
trans - This mostly applies to text translations of manga chapters, though there are of course exceptions.
Most of this has been gone over in the community FAQ, but in any case...
Why no introduction posts?
Surprisingly, I haven't had anyone challenge me on this rule. Back when this comm was getting its first big influx of members, friction started building up between "new" and "old" members. Thanks to this rule, few people get the chance to label themselves as "new" to the comm, so everyone can have an equal footing. I'm glad things have worked out that way.
Why no scanlations?
Because I'm a dork. Because there's plenty of other places for it besides here. I'm not trying to be difficult on those who want their scanlations. If you really want scanlations, check google and I'm sure you'll hit jackpot sooner or later. ^_~ But as for this community, the rule stands and I don't plan on changing that. My apologies for being so stubborn. ^^;
What does "no requests" and "no questions" actually mean?
There is bleach_fact, a specific community that answers requests and helps answer non-discussion questions. As such, if a request or non-discussion question pops up here on soul_society, I tend to delete the post. There are exceptions - particularly if the non-discussion question turns around and develops into a full and interesting discussion with the help of the comments. But besides the exceptions, not many of these sort of posts stay on the community for long.
What counts as a "non-discussion" question?
A question that is meant to satisfy the poster curiosity but go no further than that. If you are posting a question that could be easily answered by one person's reply comment, then it may be better off posted in bleach_fact instead. If you feel that it should be posted in soul_society instead, contact me directly. I can be reasoned with.
That's all I can think of at the moment. Happy holidays and take care everyone! Thank you all for yet another wonderful year in this community!
